Mission Summary
It has been 24 hours since the bombs fell across Washington, D.C., and the surrounding region. Miraculously, no nuclear detonations have been detected, but the devastation is immense. Nearly 80% of the city has been reduced to rubble, though a few office buildings and monuments still stand as hollow reminders of what was. The White House and the Capitol Building have been obliterated, reduced to nothing but dust and memories.
The 3rd Infantry Regiment—The Old Guard—remains steadfast in its duty to protect the nation’s capital. Even though most of the city lies in ruins, our mission endures. Yet, the world has gone silent. Visual and audio communications are non-existent. No reports or orders are coming in—or going out. Rumors swirl among the survivors: Was it the Russians? The Chinese? Iran? North Korea? A terrorist group? Some combination—or none of the above?
All we know for certain is that some of our own weapon systems turned on us. But why? What happened? How could we have been so unprepared? And who, or what, is our true enemy? We must find answers, adapt, and endure.
